Hotel History

From 1885 to 1905 the Beau Rivage Hotel was in the "White House "- and was the residence of the english painter Richard West (Dublino 1848 - Fiesole 1905) that fascinated by the beauty of the place and the charm of the sea, he painted many Alassio views and its surroundings. In particular, some paintings represent views of the beach in front of the hotel and its garden.

Painter's daughter, Kathleen, in 1963 donated to the town of Alassio over a sixty paintings of his father, who today can be seen the original "Richard West Memorial Gallery" built in 1907 to honor the memory. Other works are now kept in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
